Anyone passionate about design will know that if you crave artwork in the form of fine hand-woven area carpets, Weavers Art is the place. They are pioneers in the world of “floor art fashion“.

ERA: Evolution of Rug Artistry is a design competition conceptulatized by Johane Lefancois-Deignan (JNSQ Design) and Catherine Shea (Weavers Art) which debuted in Toronto at IDS 2010 last week. It was developed to explore, showcase and inspire the talent found in Canada’s design community. This “outside the box” challenge also raises funds and awareness for local charity DAREarts which promotes positive influences through the arts to empower children to achieve their potential.

The ERA rugs are now on display at the Bedford Road Showroom and I hear they look incredible. Weavers Art is hosting an ERA event which includes an exhibit of the 10 winnings rugs which will be available for purchase. Proceeds of all rug sales will go to DAREarts.

All the ERA rug designs are wonderful and brilliant – a huge congratulations and well done to all the finalists.
Here are my runner-up designs by 3rd Uncle Design (Roncesvalles) and Roy Banse (The Jazzy Rug):
