A couple of weeks ago, the CEIA, an award program that recognizes outstanding achievement in the Canadian events industry held a gala to announce and award the 2009 winners. A huge congratulations to the always inspiring ladies, Elvira & Cathy of DEVAN for their award in theĀ Best Theme Decor $10,000-$30,000.

Devan is constantly pushing the boundaries of design and searching for innovative ways to bring their clients’ visions to life. They were awarded for their work on an Orient Express (click to see images) theme but here is some of their recent decor work that I had the opportunity to work with their team on. Elvira D’Avanzo, the creative spirit, never ceases to amaze me with her resourcefulness and creative inspirations. I am so impressed and amazed at how she executed this holiday event of mesmerizing fantasy and optical illusion art.

I LOVE this bar treatment!!

AGURI to Elvira and Cathy and the team at Devan for their award. You rock!!!

Darren has a contagious, “joie de vivre” attitude about life. He has a portrait-journalistic style and has over 25 years of collective experience with film, digital and Photoshop. We met working on Jaclyn + Pete’s wedding in September where he directed the couple and their family with ease, kept to my time line for the day and injected laughter, humour and good spirit into their celebration.

Darren exceeds expections; he is hard-working, passionate and always has a big smile on his face. He stayed to capture all the memories of the day, even after an unfortunate slip at the wedding in which he sprained his ankle. I LOVE this photo below which expresses not only a beautiful bride enjoying her day but the joy and fun Darren puts into his work.

John Costa is a local treasure and the creative talent behind Pusateri’s Floral Design and Garden Centre. With a recent expansion into the wedding industry, John works with couples to create pieces that compliment their personalities and their vision. For Gilles & Michel’s wedding, he created an “air & structure” design that represented the grooms’ lifestyle for travel and architecture.

John needed to create two “man-bouquets” for the union celebration. The couple wanted something masculine that worked with their purple colour-scheme. John constructed a two-part piece that united the bouquets when joined together – symbolic and inspiring.

Always smiling. Positive attitude. Lovely to work with. Enthusiastic. Uniquely creative. Highly skilled. Exceptional.
